First Generation


1. William Campbell 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 was born in 1730. He died in Apr 1805.

William Campbell lived in the vicinity of Bruington Church, King and Queen County, Virginia, and was believed to be a younger brother of Whitaker Campbell (1727-1814). William Campbell married first, ELIZABETH WATKINS, daughter of Edward and Mary (Taylor) Watkins . They had six children. He married second, Mary Roy, daughter of John and Dorothy (Buckner) Smith Roy, and had six more children.

William Campbell (1730-1805) was charged with 918 acres of land in 1782. This tract, called Campbell's when it was purchased by Josiah Ryland, was later called Shooter's Hill.

William Campbell made his will August 29, 1801. It was witnessed by Anderson Scott, a neighbor, Wiley Roy, Jr., and Richard Roy, naming Robert Hill of King and Queen and his sons William, John, Wiley, and Hugh Campbell as executors. His will was proved at King and Queen courthouse on April 8, 1805.

William married (1) Elizabeth Watkins daughter of Edward Watkins and Mary Taylor. Elizabeth was born about 1744.

Hugh Roy Campbell died after 1801.  He lived in Fauquier County, Virginia. He died intestate between August 28, 1801 and November 25, 1822.

Fanny Campbell.  She lived with her half brother John in Kentucky.

Wiley Campbell 1.  He moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky. On May 20, 1806, he is shown to have sold land in Clermont County, Ohio, by power of attorney of Beverly Ray of King and King County, Virginia, to Philip Buckner of Bracken County, Kentucky. In 1810, he was a member of the Virginia House or Represenatives fron King and Queen County.
