208. Ned Campbell (Benjamin S. , Benjamin , Whitaker ) was born on 9 Aug 1840 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Ned was educated in the schools of Christian County and was brought up mostly on the farm. In 1861 he enlisted in the Federal Army, rose to the rank of captain, and was honorably discharged at Louisville in January 1865, two days before the burning of the old Galt House, from which he barely escaped with his life. He married in 1866 at Hopkinsville, Kentucky, FANNIE LONG, daughter of Gabriel B. and Martha Long. On September 11, 1882 he was appointed Collector in the Second Kentucky District of Revenue, a position he resigned October 31, 1883 to return to farming. He was for four years Chairman of the Christian County Republican Executive Committee, and took an active part in politics. Captain Campbell, his wife, and son were members of the Christian Church.

Ned married Fannie Long daughter of Gabriel B. Long and Martha ________ on 8 Nov 1866 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
