Introduction

This website is a summary of a study of the Argyll Campbells of Scotland.  Particular attention was given to those descendants who were banished to North America during its early settlement about the middle of the 17th century.  This effort was undertaken with hopes of finding a connection between the Argyll family of Scotland and Whitaker Campbell (1727-1814), the head of a large Campbell family in Virginia.  No connection was found, and further research is encouraged.
